Oracle – Get description of Tables, Views, Synonyms, Procedures, Functions

DESC or DESCRIBE can be used to get description of tables, views, synonyms, procedures and functions. DESC lists all the details about the database object it is used with. For example when DESC is used with a table, view or a synonym, it displays all the columns with their data types, their size and if they accept NULL values. Similarly when DESC is used with a procedure or a function, it displays its arguments with their data type, size, default value and direction.

Syntax:

DESC/DESCRIBE Object name;
